Well after hearing about the Salò film for several years I finally got a chance to watch it and was surprised not only by the content but the underlying themse about the Director's stance against facism.
Of course the film does strike a morally disturbing balance between scenes that are physicall and emotionally shocking, and why we as viewers must take as tance against this barbarism.
The film has often been cited as by the BFi as a key film, and I would say that I agree - of course for most people it will appear very slow. The cinematography is nothing special to be honest, rather flat in comparison to some of the wonders of the Italian Neo-Realism masters...
Acting is superb... and the script works wihin the confines of Film.
Music is also effective but nothing to really amaze.
Overall a dark film but worthy to watch if you want to really scare people who talk about crass movies.
